It wasn't long ago when Leona Lewis recorded a Jesse McCartney song, and then the original surfaced on the Internet. The same thing has happened once more; this time with Miley Cyrus recording 'Breakout,' a supposed Katy Perry original.
This isn't the first Internet tiff the two have had in the past week. In an interview with 'Steppin' Out,' new pop sensation Perry joked that she would like to recreate the famous Madonna-Britney kiss with the 'Hannah Montana' singer at the quickly approaching Teen Choice awards. The 'I Kissed a Girl' singer joked, "Maybe we'll have another Britney-Madonna moment on stage. How hilarious would that be?" Cyrus politely rejected the offer with a "No thanks," but added in her interview with E!, "[Perry] sang on my record. So I think she's kind of getting back at me, because she was doing harmonies and backgrounds." Ouch, ladies.
Why They're About to Pop: What does an electro-rock band from California have to do with the Disney Channel's most popular TV show? A lot. In 2006, Metro Station's Trace Cyrus (that's right, Miley's stepbrother) and Mason Musso were brought together on the set of 'Hannah Montana' on which Musso's brother Mitchel also stars. Thanks to the urging of their mothers, Cyrus and Musso bonded over their love of music and soon added Anthony Improgo on percussion and Blake Healy on keys to form the 80s-influenced outfit. Record labels came knocking and the four-piece eventually recorded their self-titled debut album, in part produced by Motion City Soundtrack's Justin Pierre and Josh Cain. Since the release of their record, the band's single, 'Shake It,' has reached No. 10 on the Billboard charts and has been certified gold, selling over 800,000 copies. Metro Station is currently on the 'Soundtrack of Your Summer Tour' with Boys Like Girls and Good Charlotte through August 22.
The two-hour show, meant to highlight the relationship between fashion and music, will air on CBS on September 9.
"In just five years, 'Fashion Rocks' has become one of the most exciting multi-media events of the year," said Richard Beckman, president of Conde Nast Media Group.
All proceeds will benefit the charitable organization Stand Up To Cancer. To find more information about 'Fashion Rocks,' log onto www.fashionrockslive.com.

Why They're About to Pop: The Cab has certainly gotten by with a little help from their friends, and in this case, those friends include members of Panic at the Disco and Pete Wentz. The Vegas five-piece got its start in 2005 when Alex DeLeon (vocals) and Cash Colligan (bass) started making music together in high school. The duo soon added Alex Johnson (drums), Alex Marshall (piano) and Ian Crawford (guitar) to flesh out their bold pop rock sound. After touring locally in Nevada, the Cab's demo landed in the hands of Panic at the Disco's Spencer Smith, who brought the record to Panic's label owner, Pete Wentz. The Cab was then signed to Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen and their single, 'One of Those Nights,' featuring FOB frontman Patrick Stump and Panic's Brendon Urie, has generated a swell of buzz on the Internet. The Cab has toured with the likes of Cobra Starship and We the Kings, and is currently out with the Hush Sound through August 25.

Why She's About to Pop: This 20-year-old singer-songwriter was born Jessica Charlotte Poland, but took on the moniker of 'Charlotte Sometimes' from Penelope Farmer's children's book of the same name. As an adopted child not knowing much about her background, she sought an identity through the arts -- dance and musical theater -- but it was at age 14 when she picked up the guitar and found out who she truly was. Six years later, Charlotte Sometimes has released her major-label debut album, 'Waves and the Both of Us,' which is not only a reference to Farmer's book, but also touches upon "the different waves that live inside my head and heart, and how they affect others, myself, and the person I want or pretend to be," she says. Charlotte Sometimes is currently on the Vans Warped Tour through August 17.
